Jill Keefer is a yoga teacher who educates children about the importance of movement and the power of breathing. She began her practice 11 years ago shortly after having her first child and realized how Yoga was changing her life. She not only became physically stronger, but was more calm, patient and able to live life with a clearer mind. After years of being a stay at home mom and much soul searching, Jill decided to deepen her Yoga practice and journey with the 200-hr Teacher Training at Holy Cow Yoga in 2011. Jill loves to teach kids yoga and holds two kids teaching certifications, one from Holy Cow and the other from Yoga Kidz. Jill volunteers with Yoga Kidz at Mitchell Elementary School. She is also certified to teach Yin, Gentle, Restorative and Prenatal yoga. She hopes to inspire students of all ages and walks of life to let their practice on the mat enrich their lives off the mat. In this episode, she narrates how she gets children to listen by beginning each session with rules that facilitate respectful behaviour towards themselves and others. She also makes sure that the learning environment for her classes is calming and fun. She has golden tips on the benefits of breathing exercises and strategies that parents can do at home with their kids to manage their emotions.
